In alignment with the goals set by the Angolan Government in the PDN, which seeks to provide electricity access to the entire population to enhance social conditions, the “Rural Electrification Project of Mussulo” was launched on Friday, March 22. The ceremony was led by the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, alongside the Governor of Luanda Province, Manuel Homem, and high-ranking officials from the Energy sector, the Provincial Government, and other guests.

The document was signed by the President of the Board of Directors of ENDE, Hélder de Jesus Adão, who is responsible for the project, and the main contractor from Marck Cables, Elisio Augusto.

The project launch will extend to the neighborhoods of Buraco, Ponta da Barra, Pior, Cambaxi, Mussulo Centro, Macoco, Farol das Palmeirinhas, and Tapo.

This initiative will benefit approximately 21,600 families and include the installation of 26 PTs, 3,600 household connections, and public lighting at 950 points, thereby improving residents’ quality of life.

It is important to note that the implementation of the electricity grid will lay the groundwork for bolstering tourism activities, developing the fishing sector, and reducing pollutants through the use of clean energy sources.

In his speech, the minister emphasized that the electrification of Mussulo would solve many of the population’s issues. He also mentioned that His Excellency, the President of the Republic, had instructed that Mussulo be provided with electricity, with the project slated for completion by the end of this year.

Regarding the Water sector, João Baptista Borges highlighted that the water supply problem would soon be resolved with a pipeline from Ramiros.

The Governor of the Province, Manuel Homem, urged the population to preserve these public assets and report any acts of vandalism.

Following the ceremony, the officials visited the Mussulo market and medical center. To conclude the events in Mussulo, the Governor activated the circuit breaker to connect the public lighting.
