Trump’s Pick for Israel Ambassador Leads Tours That Leave Out Palestinians — and Promote End of Days Theology
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In recent years, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has become a hot topic, with tensions rising and peace seeming further and further out of reach. Amidst this turmoil, the current US administration has made some controversial moves, with President Donald Trump’s pick for Israel ambassador, Mike Huckabee, leading the charge. But while Trump may have his own agenda for the region, Huckabee’s actions have raised concerns about the erasure of Palestinians and the promotion of a dangerous ideology.

Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas and a strong supporter of Israel, has been chosen by Trump to serve as the US ambassador to the country. But what many may not know is that Huckabee is also the founder of a tour company that offers all-inclusive trips to Israel. While this may seem like a harmless venture, the tours have come under fire for their exclusion of Palestinian history and culture.

The tours, which are marketed as “Christian pilgrimages,” are heavily focused on biblical sites and religious experiences. While this may be appealing to some, it also means that the tours completely ignore the presence and struggles of the Palestinian people. This erasure of an entire population is not only disrespectful, but it also perpetuates a one-sided narrative of the conflict.

But the issue goes beyond just the exclusion of Palestinians from these tours. Huckabee’s company, “Huckabee Tours,” also promotes a dangerous ideology known as “End of Days” theology. This belief, held by some evangelical Christians, states that the end of the world is imminent and that certain events in Israel, such as the rebuilding of the Temple, are necessary for the second coming of Christ.

This theology not only disregards the rights and existence of Palestinians, but it also fuels the ongoing conflict by promoting the idea that Israel must control all of Jerusalem in order for the end times to occur. This dangerous belief has been used to justify the occupation and oppression of Palestinians, and it is deeply concerning that the US ambassador to Israel is a proponent of this ideology.

Furthermore, the fact that Huckabee’s tours are marketed as “all-inclusive” is misleading, as they do not offer a balanced view of the region. By only showcasing one side of the conflict, these tours perpetuate a biased and incomplete understanding of the situation. This not only does a disservice to those who participate in the tours, but it also hinders any potential for peace and understanding between the two sides.

It is also worth noting that Huckabee’s ties to the tourism industry in Israel may have influenced his appointment as ambassador. Trump himself has a history of real estate dealings in the region, and it is concerning that his administration’s actions may be driven by personal interests rather than the pursuit of peace and justice.

As the US ambassador to Israel, Huckabee has a responsibility to represent all parties involved in the conflict, not just one. It is crucial that he acknowledges the existence and rights of Palestinians and works towards a solution that is fair and just for both sides. By promoting a biased and exclusionary narrative, Huckabee is only adding fuel to the fire and hindering any potential for progress.

In conclusion, while Trump may have his own reasons for choosing Huckabee as the US ambassador to Israel, it is clear that his actions and beliefs are not in the best interest of the region. The erasure of Palestinians and promotion of a dangerous ideology have no place in the pursuit of peace and justice. It is time for Huckabee to acknowledge the full picture of the conflict and work towards a solution that respects the rights and existence of all parties involved.
