A senior Palestinian official has spoken out against the use of the blockade of humanitarian aid to Gaza as a “weapon of war” by Israel. The statement was made on Monday during the opening of a weeklong hearing at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague.
In his address to the court, Saeb Erekat, the Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization, accused Israel of deliberately blocking essential aid, such as food and medical supplies, from reaching the people of Gaza. “This is not a natural disaster, this is a man-made disaster caused by Israel’s illegal blockade,” Erekat stated.
