PM Modi is all set for yet another international visit, and this time, it’s to the beautiful country of Oman. The Prime Minister has been invited by Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and will be visiting the country from February 11-12.

This visit holds great significance for both India and Oman as it will strengthen the long-standing ties between the two nations and pave the way for further cooperation in various areas. This is the first bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Oman in over a decade, which makes it all the more special.

The invitation from Sultan Haitham bin Tarik showcases the strong bond of friendship and mutual respect between India and Oman. It also reflects the strategic importance that both nations hold in the region.

During his visit, PM Modi will hold talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and other senior leaders of Oman to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, energy, defence, and security. The visit is expected to result in the signing of several agreements and MoUs, which will further strengthen the already robust ties between the two countries.

India and Oman have a long history of trade and cultural exchange, dating back to over 5000 years. The two nations have always shared a close bond, and this visit will provide an opportunity to further deepen the economic and cultural ties.

Oman is an important partner for India in the Gulf region, and the bilateral trade between the two countries has been steadily growing over the years. In 2019, the total trade between India and Oman stood at USD 5.7 billion, with India being the second-largest trading partner of Oman. Both countries are also exploring new avenues for cooperation, such as renewable energy, tourism, and infrastructure development.

The Indian diaspora in Oman is also a vital bridge between the two nations. The Indian community in Oman is over 8 lakh strong and has been contributing significantly to the development of the country. The visit by PM Modi will provide an opportunity to interact with the Indian community and strengthen the ties between the two nations.

Apart from the official engagements, PM Modi will also be visiting the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat and also pay his respects at the mausoleum of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said. He will also address the Indian diaspora at an event organized by the Indian Embassy in Oman.

This visit is a testament to the strong and friendly relations between India and Oman, and it is expected to open new avenues for cooperation and strengthen the existing ones. It will also provide an opportunity to explore the immense potential for growth and development in both countries.

PM Modi’s visit to Oman comes at a time when India is actively engaged in expanding its outreach to the Gulf region. In recent years, India has strengthened its ties with countries in the region, and this visit will further solidify India’s presence in the Gulf.

The visit also holds great significance for Oman, as it is the second visit by a foreign leader since Sultan Haitham bin Tarik took over as the ruler of Oman in January 2020. This visit by PM Modi will provide an opportunity to further enhance the bilateral ties between the two nations and will also strengthen the strategic partnership.

In conclusion, PM Modi’s visit to Oman is a testimony to the strong and deep-rooted relationship between the two nations. It will not only boost economic and cultural cooperation but also pave the way for a stronger and more prosperous future for both India and Oman. The visit is expected to further elevate the bilateral ties and open new avenues for cooperation in various areas, which will benefit both countries and the entire region.
