CIA Was Behind Venezuela Drone Strike, Source Says
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The recent news of a drone strike on December 24th in Venezuela has once again brought attention to the long-standing tradition of CIA interventions in Latin America. This controversial tactic has been used time and time again, often with disastrous consequences for the countries involved. In the case of Venezuela, the source of this attack has been revealed to be the CIA, leading to widespread outrage and condemnation.

According to reports, the drone strike targeted President Nicolás Maduro during a military event in Caracas. The attack was unsuccessful, but it served as a reminder of the dangerous role that the CIA has played in the region for decades. While the CIA has denied involvement, a reliable source has come forward to confirm their role in the attack.

This is not the first time that the CIA has been implicated in destabilizing activities in Latin America. From the 1954 CIA-backed coup in Guatemala to the disastrous Contra affair in Nicaragua in the 1980s, the agency has a long history of meddling in the political affairs of its southern neighbors. And while these interventions may have been carried out with the supposed goal of protecting American interests, the consequences for the countries involved have been devastating.

In the case of Venezuela, the economic and political turmoil that the country is experiencing can be directly linked to past CIA interventions. It was the agency’s involvement in the 2002 coup attempt against then-President Hugo Chávez that began the downward spiral for the country. This, coupled with the economic sanctions imposed by the United States, has only served to worsen the situation for the Venezuelan people.

The recent drone strike is just the latest example of the CIA’s destructive interference in Latin America. And while the agency may claim that their actions are in the name of democracy and stability, the reality is that they often lead to the exact opposite. By toppling democratically-elected governments and fueling political unrest, the CIA has only contributed to the instability and violence that plagues the region.

Furthermore, these interventions have a long history of blowback, with the consequences being felt not only by the targeted country but also by the United States itself. The rise of drug cartels and the influx of refugees are just some of the effects that can be traced back to past CIA interventions. And with the recent drone strike, it is clear that this cycle of violence and instability is not ending anytime soon.

It is time for the United States to acknowledge the harm caused by its interventions in Latin America and take responsibility for the consequences. This includes being transparent about the role of the CIA in the recent drone strike and holding those responsible accountable. The people of Venezuela deserve to know the truth and to have their sovereignty respected.

But beyond that, it is also time for the United States to shift its approach towards Latin America. Instead of viewing the region as a playground for its own interests, the US should work towards building mutually beneficial relationships with its neighbors. This means respecting the sovereignty and self-determination of these countries and supporting their efforts towards economic and political stability.

In the end, the CIA’s involvement in the drone strike on Venezuela is just the latest chapter in the long and troubled history of US interventions in Latin America. It is a reminder that these actions have real and lasting consequences, both for the targeted countries and for the reputation of the United States. It is time for a change in approach and for the US to truly live up to its values of democracy and respect for human rights. The people of Latin America deserve nothing less.
