Shedeur Sanders “Missed Opportunity” Puts Potential Seahawks Fit on Notice
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

With the NFL draft quickly approaching, all eyes are on top prospects and where they will land. However, one name that seems to have fallen off the radar is Shedeur Sanders, the highly-touted quarterback out of Trinity Christian School in Texas. Once considered a potential top pick, Sanders’ stock has seemingly dropped in recent months. But does this mean he’s no longer a viable option for a team like the Seattle Seahawks, who are looking to secure their future at the quarterback position?

Sanders, the son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, burst onto the scene as a high school phenom, breaking records and drawing comparisons to his father’s impressive career. Many experts predicted he would follow in his father’s footsteps and dominate at the collegiate and professional level. However, as the draft approaches, it seems that Sanders’ potential has been overshadowed by other top quarterback prospects.

But before we write off Sanders completely, it’s important to consider the situations and circumstances that may have contributed to his drop in draft boards. For one, Sanders had limited playing time in high school due to COVID-19 restrictions, which may have hindered his ability to showcase his skills. Additionally, some critics argue that Sanders’ success at the high school level may not necessarily translate to the NFL.

Despite these concerns, there’s no denying Sanders’ talent and potential. He possesses a strong arm, impressive athleticism, and a natural ability to make plays on the field. And while he may not be considered the top quarterback prospect at the moment, he certainly has the potential to develop into a top-tier player with the right guidance and opportunity.

This is where the Seattle Seahawks come into play. The team has been searching for a long-term solution at the quarterback position after the departure of Russell Wilson seemed imminent earlier this offseason. While Wilson has since stated he wants to remain with the Seahawks, the team would be wise to start preparing for the future. This is where Sanders could potentially fit in.

The Seahawks have a history of developing young quarterbacks, most notably with Wilson himself. They also have a strong offensive system and talented players that could help Sanders succeed. And with Wilson still in his prime, Sanders would have time to learn and develop before potentially taking over the starting role.

Moreover, Sanders’ skill set fits well with the Seahawks’ offensive scheme. His strong arm and ability to extend plays with his legs would mesh well with their aggressive style of play. And with the support and guidance of Wilson, Sanders could continue to improve and reach his full potential.

But it’s not just about on-field performance. Sanders also possesses a strong work ethic and leadership qualities, which are crucial for a quarterback in the NFL. He has shown a willingness to learn and improve, which bodes well for his future success.

However, it’s important to note that the Seahawks may not have the opportunity to draft Sanders. As of now, he is projected to go in the later rounds of the draft, and it’s possible that he may even go undrafted. But should that happen, the Seahawks could potentially sign him as an undrafted free agent, giving Sanders the opportunity to prove himself and potentially earn a spot on the roster.

In the end, it’s clear that Shedeur Sanders’ “missed opportunity” has put him on notice. But that doesn’t mean he’s no longer a viable option for a team like the Seattle Seahawks. With his talent, potential, and fit with the team, Sanders could be just what the Seahawks need to secure their future at the quarterback position. And if given the chance, he could prove all the doubters wrong and become the next great quarterback in the NFL.
