Ankara condemns Israeli military’s killing of aid workers in Gaza

Turkish Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun has joined the global condemnation of the Israeli military’s killing of seven humanitarian aid workers, including a Turkish national, in Gaza. The incident, which occurred on Monday, has sparked outrage and calls for justice from the international community.

Altun, in a statement released on Tuesday, expressed his deep sorrow and anger over the tragic loss of innocent lives. He condemned the Israeli military’s use of excessive force against unarmed civilians and called for an immediate end to the violence.

The aid workers were part of a humanitarian flotilla that was attempting to deliver much-needed supplies to the besieged Gaza Strip. The flotilla, organized by the Free Gaza Movement, was intercepted by Israeli forces in international waters, leading to a deadly confrontation.

Altun emphasized that the aid workers were on a peaceful mission and posed no threat to Israel’s security. He also pointed out that the use of lethal force against them was a clear violation of international law and human rights.

The Turkish Presidential Communications Director also called on the international community to take a strong stance against Israel’s actions and hold them accountable for their blatant disregard for human life. He urged the United Nations and other relevant organizations to launch an independent investigation into the incident and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

Altun’s statement echoes the sentiments of many world leaders and organizations who have condemned the Israeli military’s actions. The United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, has called for an independent and transparent investigation into the incident, while the European Union has demanded a full and immediate inquiry.

The Turkish government has also taken swift action in response to the attack. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to discuss the situation in Gaza and has announced three days of national mourning for the victims.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry has summoned the Israeli ambassador to Ankara to express their strong condemnation and demand an explanation for the attack. The ministry has also called for the immediate release of the detained aid workers and the return of the confiscated aid supplies.

The killing of the Turkish aid worker, identified as Izzet Sahin, has sparked outrage and grief in Turkey. Sahin, a father of four, was a dedicated humanitarian who had participated in several aid missions to Gaza in the past. His death has been met with widespread condemnation and calls for justice.

The Turkish government has always been a strong advocate for the Palestinian cause and has been vocal in its support for the people of Gaza. This latest incident has only strengthened their resolve to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and demand an end to the Israeli blockade of Gaza.

Altun’s statement serves as a reminder that the international community must not turn a blind eye to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. The people of Gaza have been living under a crippling blockade for over a decade, which has resulted in severe shortages of food, medicine, and other basic necessities.

The Turkish government has been at the forefront of efforts to provide aid and support to the people of Gaza. In 2010, a similar incident occurred when Israeli forces attacked a Turkish aid ship, killing 10 activists. The incident strained relations between Turkey and Israel, and it was not until 2016 that the two countries restored diplomatic ties.

However, with this latest attack, it is clear that the Israeli government has not learned from past mistakes and continues to use excessive force against innocent civilians. The international community must take a strong stance and hold Israel accountable for its actions.

In conclusion, Turkish Presidential Communications Director Fahrettin Altun’s condemnation of the Israeli military’s attack on humanitarian aid workers in Gaza is a clear message to the international community that such actions will not be tolerated. The Turkish government will continue to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people and demand an end to the blockade of Gaza. It is time for the international community to take decisive action and put an end to the suffering of the people of Gaza.
