The United Nations Special Envoy for Syria has made a strong call for Israel to immediately halt its attacks after the Israeli military launched strikes inside Syria overnight. The envoy, whose role is to facilitate peace talks and promote a resolution to the ongoing conflict in Syria, expressed grave concern over the recent escalation of violence in the region.

In a statement released on Saturday, the envoy stated, “I strongly urge Israel to cease its attacks on Syria and to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of its neighbor. The continued use of military force will only exacerbate the already dire situation in Syria and further complicate efforts towards finding a peaceful resolution.”

The Israeli military launched strikes inside Syria overnight, claiming to target Iranian military sites in response to rocket fire from Syria into Israel. However, the envoy emphasized that any military action must be in accordance with international law and should not result in civilian casualties or damage to civilian infrastructure.

The ongoing conflict in Syria has resulted in a humanitarian crisis of monumental proportions, with millions of people displaced and in need of urgent aid. The envoy stressed the need for all parties involved to prioritize the well-being of the Syrian people and work towards a lasting and sustainable peace.

The United Nations has been actively involved in efforts to bring an end to the conflict in Syria, including through the facilitation of peace talks and the provision of humanitarian aid. The envoy’s call for Israel to immediately stop its attacks is in line with the organization’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.

The international community has also expressed concern over the recent escalation of violence in Syria. The United States, France, and the United Kingdom have all called for restraint and urged all parties to refrain from actions that could further escalate the situation.

The envoy’s statement comes at a critical time, as tensions in the region continue to rise. It serves as a reminder of the importance of finding a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Syria and the need for all parties to engage in constructive dialogue.

In addition, the envoy’s call for Israel to immediately stop its attacks is a reflection of the United Nations’ commitment to upholding international law and promoting respect for the sovereignty of all nations.

As the situation in Syria remains volatile, it is crucial for all parties to exercise restraint and work towards a peaceful solution. The United Nations stands ready to support any efforts towards de-escalation and finding a lasting resolution to the conflict.

In conclusion, the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria has made a strong and urgent call for Israel to immediately stop its attacks in Syria. The organization remains committed to promoting peace and stability in the region and calls on all parties to prioritize the well-being of the Syrian people. It is our hope that this call will be heeded and that all parties will work towards a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Syria.
